Puncturevine is a nasty annual weed that can be a painful discovery if you happen to stumble upon it unsuspectingly.

It is also known as goat head or devil’s thorn due to the woody seed pods with sharp thorns that can actually puncture tires. Other than PAIN if you happen to step on puncturevine, here are some other reasons this weed needs to be gone.

  • It often grows in sandy or drought-prone soils where there is little to no crop canopy to choke it out.
  • While it’s just an annual weed, eradication is difficult as the seeds can lay dormant for many years.
  • Puncturevine is toxic to animals, especially sheep.
