How can you cut expenses in 2015 and still yield well? Which input expenses are just that – expenses? Which inputs are still great investments at lower commodity prices? These are the big questions going into next year, and we’ll answer them at our free Ag PhD Winter Agronomy Workshops!
Our topics will vary depending on the location and the crops and pest issues in that area, but here are some of the things we’ll be discussing:
- Which input expenses to cut vs. which to keep
- Resistance issues – weeds, diseases, insects
- Suggested pest control programs for 2015 in corn, soybeans, wheat, sunflowers, cotton, rice, lentils, field peas, canola, and pastures
- New pesticides & seed traits for 2015 and beyond
- Why are some farmers raising 60 to 80 bushel soybeans, and I’m only getting 35 to 50 bushels per acre?
- Corn disease control/suppression for some of the worst problems we saw in 2014, including Northern Corn Leaf Blight, Goss’s Wilt, eyespot, and more
- Sudden death syndrome in soybeans
- Newer insect issues including stink bugs, Japanese beetles, sugarcane aphids, and kudzu bugs
- Cover crops – weed control, blends to maximize yields, and potential disadvantages & benefits
- Smartphone & tablet apps you need
At the conclusion of most of our workshops we will be broadcasting our live, daily Ag PhD Radio Show. Ask us a question during the show, and you’ll get free Ag PhD merchandise.
