By Brian Hefty

The new 1-hour Ag PhD Radio Show airs every weekday at 2 p.m. Central on SiriusXM channel 80, Rural Radio.  Thank you for listening!

Here are my top 5 reasons why we think this show is something you will want to tune into each day:

  1. We take your calls (605-529-6000), answer your e-mails (radio@agphd.com), and respond to your Twitter questions (@darrenhefty or @brianhefty) live on the show each day.  I’m not going to say Darren and I are the most knowledgeable agronomists in the country, but we live it and study it every day.  If you’ve got agronomy questions or concerns, we can usually help.
  2. We talk about what is going on in fields today.  We want to help you raise a better crop and make more money today.  We talk to farmers and agronomists across the country who are in fields today, so you can hear what’s going on and what might be affecting your crops.
  3. We feature a Pest of the Day.  It may be a bug, a disease or yes, even a weed.  We don’t have a Weed of the Week like we do on Ag PhD TV, but we do talk about how to identify and control a different pest each day.
  4. Most every other ag radio show you’ll listen to will talk about the grain markets, the weather, and farm news.  We don’t.  We are the only radio show on SiriusXM that focuses on helping you raise a better crop.  We will let you know what is going on in fields and how you can fight adversity to end up with great yields (and profits) each fall.
  5. You won’t just be listening to Darren and me each day.  We have other agronomists and top farmers participating in the show.  We take quite a few live callers each day, and we have some fun.

If you don’t have SiriusXM, we are expecting to have a promotion soon where you can get a radio at a discounted price.  If you had SiriusXM but let your subscription expire, I have talked to many people who have gotten deals like $25 for 6 months.  Just call SiriusXM, and they will likely give you a good offer.

Rural Radio channel 80 is the first and only ag channel on SiriusXM, but I really like it because it is all ag, all the time.  I have found most regular radio stations mix in music and non-ag programming along with a little bit of farm stuff, so personally, I like listening to this station better than anything on regular radio.

If you have been listening to our daily radio updates over the years on regular radio, we will continue to do that, but we also hope you tune in each weekday at 2 p.m. Central to channel 80 on SiriusXM for our 1-hour Ag PhD Radio Show!
