In many professions, people are required to attend a certain number of outside educational sessions during the year.  Agriculture is probably changing a lot faster than most other professions, so why wouldn’t you want to invest a little of your time to learn more and get your questions answered?  There has never been more at stake on farms than today.  There has never been more opportunity, in my opinion, on the farm than today.  2013 could be your best year ever!  I invite you to start it off by spending a few hours of your time with us.

Here are some of the topics we’ll be covering at this year’s free Ag PhD Winter Workshops.  Please note that depending on the location, topics will vary.  For example, in western Montana we won’t be talking about soybeans or corn rootworms, and in Iowa we won’t go through wheat or cotton programs.

  • Drought-proofing your crop
  • Weed resistance
  • Rootworm resistance
  • Fertility –nutrient stratification, how to pick the right fertility program to maximize yield & profit, creating your own variable rate fertilizer maps, how to read a soil test, or how Monsanto’s new IFS program will affect your fertility plan
  • Tank cleanout
  • On-farm trials & field tests throughout the region
  • Suggested corn, soybean, wheat, sunflower, cotton, rice, lentil, field pea, canola, and pasture pest control programs for 2013
  • Corn & soybean growth and development – in North Dakota only
  • New pesticides & traits for 2013 and beyond
  • Estate planning – at Scottsdale only
  • How new and future government regulations will affect your farm
  • iPhone & iPad apps you need

Also, I can assure you that the only sales pitch you will get will be about trying to improve yields and wisely invest your dollars on the farm.  The reason we do these workshops is to say thanks for watching Ag PhD TV.  We feel truly blessed to have done the show for almost 15 years now, and we really appreciate your support.  At our workshops, you get the chance to ask questions, visit with other top farmers from around your region, get a great meal, and go home with a free agronomy book.  Darren and I both want to do everything we can to help you raise better and more profitable crops.  That really helps rural America, which is where we live.
