Here are my top 6 reasons you need to attend one or more of our upcoming workshops this winter:
1. IT’LL MAKE YOU MONEY ON YOUR FARM. Look, I’m not going to tell you that everything we say or do is right or necessarily the best way to do things, but I can guarantee you we’ll give you lots of ideas on how to save money and how to improve the crops on your farm.
2. WE’LL COVER TOPICS YOU’RE INTERESTED IN, INCLUDING:
- How to control resistant weeds, diseases, and insects.
- Suggested pest control programs for 2015 in corn, soybeans, wheat, sunflowers, cotton, rice, lentils, field peas, canola, and pastures.
- GMO vs. non-GMO crop nutrient value.
- New pesticides & seed traits for 2015 and beyond.
- Why are some farmers raising 60 to 80 bushel soybeans, and I’m only getting 35 to 50 bushels per acre?
- Corn disease control/suppression for some of the worst problems we saw in 2014 including Northern Corn Leaf Blight, Goss’s Wilt, eyespot, and more.
- Sudden death syndrome in soybeans.
- Newer insect issues including stink bugs, Japanese beetles, sugarcane aphids, and kudzu bugs.
- Cover crops – weed control, blends to maximize yields, and potential disadvantages & benefits
3. YOU’LL GET TO HEAR WHAT NOT TO DO ON YOUR FARM. Have you ever noticed how almost anyone can tell you how great a lot of things are for your farm, but almost no one tells you what pitfalls to watch for? Even on our TV and radio shows, we can’t say everything we’d like to just because we have to be a little politically correct. However, at our workshops, where it’s just you and us, we’ll talk about some of the side effects of certain popular products used on farms today. You may not be getting good advice with some of the products you’re being sold or the way you’re told to use them. You’ll learn some things you won’t hear anywhere else in part because we farm too.
4. IT’S FUN. Darren and I like to have a good time at our meetings, and hopefully that comes through to you. It will not be boring. You will laugh and be entertained, but you’ll also walk away learning a lot about your farm, our industry, and on-farm investments.
5. YOU’LL HAVE SOME TIME TO MEET AND INTERACT WITH SOME OF THE BEST FARMERS IN THE REGION. Our workshops are not just a free meal that attracts a whole bunch of non-farmers. These are 4- to 6-hour learning sessions, and the farmers who attend are typically the best in the business. If you want to socialize with people like that, you’ll have an opportunity by attending any of our upcoming workshops.
6. THEY’RE FREE! As a way to say thank you for making Ag PhD the #1 ag show on television, we figure it’s the least we can do to buy you a meal, give you a 150+ page agronomy book, and visit with you for a few hours on how to save money and raise better crops each and every year. I hope you can join us!
